LINDA HAMILTON TO RETURN TO THE ROLE OF SARAH CONNOR FOR NEW TERMINATOR FILMS, TO BE PRODUCED BY JAMES CAMERON

More than twenty-five years after saying goodbye, actress Linda Hamilton is returning to the “Terminator” franchise for the new installment being made by Skydance and Paramount.    James Cameron made the announcement at a private event regarding the franchise, saying:

“As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return. There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys, but there isn’t an example of that for women.”

Tim Miller (Deadpool) is directing the sequel which will be the first film since 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day to have Cameron directly involved – in this case as producer and with a story he created. As previously reported, Arnold Schwarzenegger is also returning to the franchise.

Cameron and Miller created a writers room to map out a planned trilogy that can stand as single movies or form an overarching story with the likes of David Goyer, Charles Eglee and Josh Friedman (The Sarah Connor Chronicles) involved.

One thing is for sure, this is being treated as a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day with the potential evils of technology a theme at the foreground again. However, an ’18-something woman’ will be the central figure this time with the story involving “mostly new characters but we’ll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it” says Cameron.
